Nationals place David Carpenter on the 15-day disabled list

Nationals reliever David Carpenter was placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 12, because of right shoulder inflammation. Carpenter warmed up last Saturday in Baltimore before feeling something was wrong and being sat down.

Sammy Solis was recalled from Double-A Harrisburg to take Carpenter’s place.

Carpenter, 29, is 0-0 with a 1.50 ERA in eight games (6 IP) with the Nationals. Acquired from the New York Yankees on June 11, Carpenter is 0-1 with a 4.01 ERA in 30 total games (24 2/3 IP) this season.
