Just when David Carpenter was getting comfortable coming out of the Washington Nationals' bullpen, the veteran right-hander has landed on the DL with right shoulder inflammation. Left-hander Sammy Solis was recalled to take his place on the roster.
The Washington Nationals recalled 26-year-old lefty Sammy Solis early this month when David Carpenter went on the Paternity List, but Solis was optioned back to Double-A Harrisburg four days later to make room for the return of Jordan Zimmermann, who was returning from a day on the Paternity List.
Solis threw a scoreless inning of relief work against the Cincinnati Reds while he was up, giving him 10 innings pitched in the majors this season after the 2010 2nd Round pick made his MLB debut on April 30th.
