The Nationals made their annual trip on Monday to the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda.
“Players, coaches and their significant others (spent) time with veterans working on their physical therapy in the Military Advanced Training Center. Afterwards the team (joined) active duty service members at the USO Warrior and Family Center at Bethesda for lunch,” according to the Nationals.
Among those that made the trip, according to a clubhouse message board, were rookie manager Dave Martinez, bench coach Chip Hale, infielder/outfielder Howie Kendrick, catcher Matt Wieters, injured third baseman Anthony Rendon, first baseman/left fielder Matt Adams, outfielders Andrew Stevenson and Rafael Bautista, assistant hitting coach Joe Dillon and pitchers Trevor Gott and Matt Grace, among others.
