Nationals Park hosts Heroes Day in makeup game

There was a makeup baseball game Thursday afternoon at Nationals Park and it was also Heroes Day.

Before the Nationals hosted the Cubs, the ceremonial first pitch was delivered by Commander Morgan C. Kane, of the Metropolitan Police Department.

Fallen First Responders were recognized before the game, and the color guard was presented by the Pentagon Force Protection Agency Police Color Guard.

The national anthem was performed by Lieutenant Amy Dant, of Montgomery County Fire & Rescue in Maryland. Dant was also slated to perform “God Bless America” during the seventh inning stretch.

The scoreboard played a 9/11 memorial before the game.
