Nationals name Davey Lopes as Dusty Baker's first base coach

With the Washington Nationals set to introduce Dusty Baker to the nation's capital this morning, the Nats announced another addition to the new manager's staff. Davey Lopes will be Baker's first base coach.

Earlier this week, the Washington Nationals named Dusty Baker manager in a somewhat surprising development after a deal with Bud Black reportedly fell apart.

With Baker as manager now, however, things are moving quickly as the Nats build the new skipper's staff.

Wednesday afternoon saw the announcement of Mike Maddux as the new pitching coach in the nation's capital and this morning the Nationals announced that Davey Lopes will be joining Baker's staff as the Nationals' new first base coach:

Lopes served as the Los Angeles Dodgers' first base coach from 2010-2015, after filling the same role with the Orioles, Brewers and Phillies.
