The awards just keep piling up for Max Scherzer.
On Wednesday, he learned that he had won the Cy Young (he was on a boat for the celebration, because of course he was). Last night, in the lesser known Esurance MLB Awards (formerly known as the “Greatness in Baseball Yearly Awards”), Scherzer brought home another two trophies, one for “Best Pitcher”, and another for “Best Performance”, which Scherzer had won last year.
Fans, media, front-office personnel, members of the Society for American Baseball Research (SABR) and former players all vote on the award.
“Best Pitcher” is exactly what it sounds like — the award goes to the best pitcher in the major leagues.
