Chris Speier told reporters on Wednesday afternoon that Dusty Baker, who was away from the Washington Nationals due to a death in the family, had provided him with lineups for both the series finale with the New York Mets and tonight’s series opener with Atlanta’s Braves.
Baker was, however, expected to rejoin the team in Turner Field in time for the start of this weekend’s three-game set.
Following the Nationals’ 1-0 win in the series finale with the Mets, Speier said he was happy that the team was able to win one for their skipper.
“As we got into that ninth inning with a one-run lead, I got emotional,” Speier said.
