A little more than three weeks after making his season debut, Washington Nationals infielder Anthony Rendon returned to the 15-day disabled list Friday, this time with what the team said is a strained left quadriceps muscle.
Veteran infielder and District native Emmanuel Burriss was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse to fill Rendon’s spot on the active roster. Reed Johnson was transferred from the 15-day DL to the 60-day DL to make room for Burriss on the 40-man roster.
Rendon was not in the starting lineup Sunday and Thursday, and he was removed from Wednesday’s game in the ninth inning.
