The Nationals’ Erick Fedde returned to the big leagues in solid — if not winning — fashion Wednesday afternoon as Washington fell to the last-place San Diego Padres, 3-1.
The Nationals were held to seven hits as the Padres avoided a sweep in the last outing of the three-game series. Padres starter Tyson Ross gave up just one run in 6.1 innings of work with nine strikeouts.
The Nationals didn’t score until Matt Adams (three hits) led off the seventh with a solo homer to right, cutting the lead to 3-1.
