Washington Nationals right fielder Bryce Harper and manager Matt Williams were each ejected Wednesday night’s game against the New York Yankees for arguing with home plate umpire Marvin Hudson.
Though the specific details were immediately unclear, the argument appeared to center around Harper’s position in or out of the batter’s box during his at-bat in the third inning. It was the second time in the past seven days that both Harper and Williams were ejected.
The 22-year-old took a called strike on the first pitch, then stepped out of the batter’s box.
