The Nationals have signed 27 year old right hander Mike Soroka per Ken Rosenthal. Soroka pitched for the Chicago White Sox last season where he posted a 4.74 ERA in 25 appearances including nine starts. Soroka’s deal is one year for nine million dollars with the Nationals planning on using him as a starter.

Soroka looked like an up and coming star before back to back achilles tears kept him out for years. It will be interesting to see how the Nationals use Soroka. While he has traditionally been a starter, he was most effective in a multi-inning relief role last season.
