Nationals activate Anthony Rendon, who will make season debut against Cubs

After missing the first two months of the season with a combination of injuries, infielder Anthony Rendon rejoined the Washington Nationals for their series-opener against the Chicago Cubs on Thursday.

The 24-year-old Silver Slugger Award winner is expected to make his season debut at second base, where he spent the entirety of his most recent minor-league rehabilitation stint.

Rendon had been on the 15-day disabled list since Opening Day. He sprained the medial collateral ligament in his left knee during spring training, then suffered a Grade 2 left oblique strain during a minor-league rehabilitation game at Double-A Harrisburg.
