Nationals acquire right-hander Jimmy Cordero from Phillies for PTBNL

The Washington Nationals announced this morning that they acquired right-handed reliever Jimmy Cordero from the Philadelphia Phillies in return for a PTBNL.

Cordero, 25, was one of two right-handers the Phillies acquired from the Toronto Blue Jays in return for Ben Revere when the Phillies dealt the veteran outfielder (now with the Nationals) in late July 2015.

Cordero pitched at four levels of the Phillies’ system in 2016, going (2-3) with a 5.00 ERA in 22 games and 27 IP, as he dealt with bicep and shoulder injuries.
