Nationals acquire David Carpenter from Yankees in exchange for Tony Renda

After finishing up a two-game set with the Yankees in New York, the Washington Nationals completed a trade with the Bronx Bombers this morning, acquiring 29-year-old right-hander David Carpenter in exchange for 24-year-old, 2012 Nats' 2nd Round pick Tony Renda.

Carpenter was DFA'd by the Yankees on June 3rd. He was acquired along with left-handed reliever Chasen Shreve this winter in a trade for left-hander Manny Banuelos, after two seasons with the Atlanta Braves.

In 2013, the right-handed reliever put up a 1.78 ERA, a 2.83 FIP, 20 walks (2.74 BB/9) and 74 Ks (10.14 K/9) in 65 u2154 IP for the Braves.
