MLB Rule 5 Draft 2019: Washington Nationals lose prospect Sterling Sharp to Miami Marlins

In perhaps the least surprising development for the Washington Nationals at the Winter Meetings in San Diego, California, the team lost the pitcher MLB’s Pipeline scouts have ranked as their 13th overall prospect.

Sterling Sharp, 24, was selected by the Miami Marlins with the third pick of the Rule 5 Draft earlier this afternoon, after the Nats left the right-hander unprotected when they chose not add him to their 40-Man roster after a 2019 campaign in which the 2016 22nd Round Draft pick posted a 3.99 ERA, a 2.59 FIP, 14 walks, and 45 Ks in nine starts and 49 23 innings on the mound for the Double-A Harrisburg Senators.
