Mike Dunn of Miami Marlins to start season on DL with forearm strain

Miami Marlins left-handed reliever Mike Dunn will begin the season on the disabled list with a forearm strain, the team announced Sunday.

It is the first time Dunn has been placed on the disabled list in his career.

He is 14 appearances away from tying the franchise record for appearances, held by Braden Looper, who was a Marlins reliever from 1999 until 2003.

Dunn, 30, has more than 70 appearances in each of the past three seasons and four of his five with the Marlins. He made 72 appearances last season, finishing with a 2-5 record and a 4.
