Michael Soroka is making his first start of the spring today against the St. Louis Cardinals. His signing was one of the most fascinating moves the Nationals made this offseason. At 27, Soroka has seen extraordinary highs but also crater like lows.
Soroka’s name should sound familiar to Nats fans because he was a longtime Atlanta Brave, who had a lot of success. In 2019, at just 21 years old Soroka had a magical campaign. He went 13-4 with a 2.68 ERA in 174.2 innings. Soroka was sixth in Cy Young voting and finished second in the rookie of the year race behind Pete Alonso.
