Nationals ace Max Scherzer won’t start Sunday’s Game 5 against the Houston Astros with a neck injury, manager Dave Martinez announced. Joe Ross will take his place on the mound.
Scherzer woke up Saturday with neck spasms, Martinez said. The condition worsened overnight.
Martinez said Scherzer was “really upset” over the injury.
Martinez said he’s leaning toward Stephen Strasburg starting Game 6.
