The Washington Nationals and Max Scherzer have yet to seriously discuss a possible contract extension as the three-time Cy Young winner enters the last year of his contract.
Speaking to reporters Tuesday, Scherzer’s agent Scott Boras said that he’s had a few conversations with Nationals’ ownership about the situation, but is planning for further talks with “Mr. Lerner,” referring to principal owner Mark Lerner.
“We’re going to get together after the new year, and have some discussions, so we’ll see how that goes,” Boras said.
Scherzer, 36, joined the Nationals in 2015 on a seven-year, $210 million contract.
