Not long after the Washington Nationals inducted Jayson Werth into their Ring of Honor, the former major league outfielder pleaded guilty to a charge of driving under the influence.
Werth was arrested and charged with DUI in Arizona last April. At the time, he was playing in the Seattle Mariners’ organization at their spring training facility in the state.
Werth was fined more than $1,600 and had his driver’s license suspended, among other things, but he was not ordered to serve any jail time.
But in 2014, while still playing for the Nationals, he served half of a 10-day sentence for reckless driving after he was pulled over driving 105 miles per hour on the Beltway.
