Holland back in Nationals' system

Greg Holland, a right-handed reliever, is back with the Nationals. He was assigned to Double-A Harrisburg Tuesday.

The Nationals signed Holland last season after he was released from the St. Louis Cardinals in August. He finished the season with a 0.84 ERA in 24 games with the Nationals.

He signed a yearlong contract with the Arizona Diamondbacks in January and had 4.94 ERA. Holland was released on August 9.

The 33-year-old California native spent six years with the Kansas City Royals before signing with the Colorado Rockies in 2017.

“The experience that he brings, especially from his time in Kansas City, pitching in playoff races and meaningful games down the stretch and into the postseason — that stuff really carries a lot of weight,” Washington closer Sean Doolittle said.
