Harper scratched with ingrown toenail

JUPITER, Fla. -- Bryce Harper was scratched from the Nationals' lineup for Wednesday's game against the Marlins because of an ingrown toenail.

It was unclear how long the injury is supposed to sideline Harper, who required a minor surgery after a particularly nasty ingrown toenail in May 2013. In that instance, he returned to the lineup after missing two games.

Wilmer Difo replaced Harper in Wednesday's lineup as the designated hitter. Harper was not originally scheduled to play during Thursday's game against the Braves in Orlando, so his return to the lineup likely won't come until this weekend, at the earliest.
