Harper leads off with homer, his 11th of season

WASHINGTON -- The Bryce Harper leadoff-hitter experiment continues to produce spectacular results for the Nationals.

Harper hit an opposite-field home run in the bottom of the first inning against the Phillies on Friday night, his second career leadoff home run. It was Harper's 11th home run of the season and his third in four games since he started batting first in Washington's lineup.

What started as an unorthodox idea to try and get Harper more pitches in the strike zone has become the norm for the Nationals as Harper has started to heat back up again.
