NEW YORK — Nationals right fielder Bryce Harper left the game in the top of the eighth inning when he was hit on the left foot on a pitch by Yankees reliever Dellin Betances on Tuesday night in New York.
Harper entered the game hitting .228 with 19 homers and was playing at Yankee Stadium for the first time since 2012. He was also hit on the elbow by a pitch in the fifth inning but stayed in the game. Brian Goodwin came on to run for Harper in the eighth.
The Nationals have been beset by injuries all season.
