Espinosa ignites offense with three-run jack

WASHINGTON -- Nationals second baseman Danny Espinosa was the hitting hero in Friday's 7-5 victory over the Cubs. He went 2-for-4, including a three-run homer in the second inning to open the scoring.

Prior to Friday, the Nationals had problems scoring runs in their previous seven games. But Espinosa changed the momentum by hitting his blast off Cubs left-hander Tsuyoshi Wada and giving Washington a 3-0 lead.

"We jumped out fairly early getting the homer from Danny. The Cubs got within one, but we got a couple late," Nationals manager Matt Williams said.
