WASHINGTON -- The Nationals' roster overhaul continued Friday when they shipped off another pair of veterans, sending starter Gio Gonzalez to the Brewers, a source told MLB.com, and reliever Ryan Madson to the Dodgers for Minor League pitcher Andrew Istler.
The club has not yet confirmed the deal for Gonzalez, which was first reported by The Athletic, but the Nats will receive two Minor Leaguers in return, according to a source. Madson was claimed on waivers by Los Angeles on Wednesday, and the two sides worked out a deal in which the Dodgers pick up Madson's remaining salary for the 2018 season, saving the Nats a little more than $1 million.
