We’re sure it’s probably happened before... maybe, but we’ve never seen it happen. Bryce Harper hit a 96 mph fastball from Jacob deGrom 406 ft. out to right field in Citi Field for a solo home run... off a broken bat. deGrom sawed Harper off, but the Washington Nationals’ 25-year-old slugger, who was left with just a handle in his hands, powered it out anyway for his eighth home run of the season.
“That was pretty shocking,” deGrom told reporters, as quoted by New York Daily News’ writer Daniel Popper, after what ended up an 8-6 Nationals’ win.
