Boras: Strasburg had benign growth removed from back

Stephen Strasburg is doing well after having a non-cancerous growth surgically removed from his back in October, according to his agent Scott Boras.

Boras, who was speaking to reporters Wednesday at the GM Meetings in Florida, said that the growth caused discomfort while Strasburg pitched.

Scott Boras said Stephen Strasburg had a non-cancerous growth surgically removed from his back about one month ago.

Boras said growth was “muscular” in origin and caused discomfort while pitching; said surgery was successful and Strasburg is doing well.
