The Washington Nationals activated center fielder Ben Revere on Friday from the 15-day disabled list and put him atop their lineup for Friday afternoon’s game against the Chicago Cubs. Outfielder Matt den Dekker was sent to Triple-A Syracuse to make room on the roster for Revere.
Revere rejoins the Nationals after missing 27 games because of a right oblique strain that occurred on opening day. He was acquired in the offseason for relief pitcher Drew Storen and a player to be named later.
Revere was expected to be the Nationals’ leadoff hitter. Because of the injury, that job has fallen to Michael A.
