Barrett placed on DL with elbow strain

WASHINGTON -- The Nationals voided Aaron Barrett's option and placed him on the 15-day disabled list with a right elbow strain, the club announced Sunday.

Barrett was sent to Triple-A Syracuse on Thursday in a corresponding move with the recall of Blake Treinen, one day after giving up three runs in one-third of an inning against the D-backs. This will be Barrett's second stint on the DL this season, also missing time in June with a right biceps strain.
