Back spasms force Escobar out of lineup

ATLANTA -- Nationals third baseman Yunel Escobar was expected to be in Wednesday's starting lineup against the Braves, but he was scratched with upper back spasms.

Escobar has been dealing with the injury since Sunday against the Phillies. He thought he would be ready to play by Wednesday, but after taking batting practice on Wednesday afternoon, Escobar asked out of the lineup.

In his place, Trea Turner started at second base, while Anthony Rendon received the nod at third base. Turner, who is the No. 2 prospect in the Nationals organization, made his third consecutive start.
