The Houston Astros’ 9-1 victory on Wednesday night left them a win away from a return to the World Series, and manager Dusty Baker talked in advance of Game 6 of the ALCS with the Boston Red Sox about the message for his club going into a potential close-out game tonight. Did he tell them anything special?
“No,” Baker explained. “You just play. You know, you let them play. You don’t put any extra pressure on them. Like you probably have a little shorter leash than you ordinarily would. Whoever is pitching, unless it’s one of your top dogs or unless, you know, like you got Cy Young candidate or something, you probably just have a little shorter leash and just let them play.
