The Washington Nationals all-time saves leader Chad "The Chief" Cordero retired from MLB yesterday at 29 years old. It's been awhile since Cordero pitched in D.C., but I remember the 47 saves he had in 2005. He was the best player we had on that 2005 team, it was the Nats first year in D.C. and at 23 years old his future looked bright.
Then Cordero came back with 29 saves in 2006 and another 37 in 2007, but sadly that was it. Arm issues robbed this young closer of his chance at greatness. He has attempted comebacks, but his last save came in a Nationals uniform in 2007.
