The Washington State Committee on Geographic Names is seeking public input on proposals to change the names of three geographic features in Washington state. Proposed changes receiving the committee’s approval will advance to the Board of Natural Resources, acting as the Washington State Board on Geographic Names, for a final decision.

As part of its review process, the committee seeks public comment on the following geographic name proposals submitted by members of the public:
Cooper Creek in Jefferson County. A group of residents seeks to name this three-mile long creek in honor of the Cooper family, which is of Native American heritage and homesteaded in the area more than 100 years ago.
