BRADENTON, Fla. – A furious rally by Washington’s Cheng-Tsung Pan came up a shot short — and maybe a half-inch wide — at the NCAA championships.
Pan, a senior in his last event for the Huskies, fired a 5-under 67, matching the low round of the week at the Concession Golf Club, in his attempt to chase down Bryson Dechambeau of Southern Methodist.
Dechambeau finished at 8-under 280 after a 71 while Pan finished at 281.
Pan went 7 under his final 16 holes, and a birdie on the 17th moved him to one shot back of Dechambeau, who had already finished.
