SALT LAKE CITY — A big third-quarter run by Utah doomed the chances of the Washington women’s basketball team Sunday as the Huskies dropped an 81-46 decision to fall to 1-15 in Pac-12 play.
The Huskies (7-20) were down just 24-23 to the Utes (17-10, 8-8 Pac-12) at halftime, but the home team had a 21-2 run in the third quarter to take total control of the game. UW opened the fourth quarter with five quick points, but Utah answered with a 13-0 run to take a 40-point lead midway through the period.
“We were trying to make home-run plays in the first half and we had 13 turnovers, which was just inexcusable,” said Utah coach Lynne Roberts.
