Junior middle blocker Avie Niece nearly had a career high in kills by the end of the first set. She finished with 13 kills Friday night to lead the 18th-ranked Huskies to a 30-28, 25-21, 25-20 win over California at Haas Pavilion.
Washington (13-4, 5-2 Pac-12) became just the second team to sweep Cal in conference play. The Bears (9-9, 1-6) were coming off an upset of Utah and had gone five sets in three of their losses. The Huskies hit .323, their second-best attack percentage of the season, and had nine service aces.
Freshman setter Ella May Powell racked up 40 assists.
