The Dawgs are officially back.
Eight years after the first winless season in program history and three years after hiring Chris Petersen as head coach, the Washington Huskies will compete in the 2016-17 College Football Playoff.
The Pac-12 champion Huskies (12-1, 9-1 in conference play) were selected as the fourth seed by the CFP selection committee on Sunday. They will play undefeated and top-seeded Alabama in the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl, one of this years's semifinal games, in Atlanta on Dec. 31. If Washington is able to knock off the Crimson Tide, they will advance to the national championship game in Tampa on January 9 for a chance at the second national championship in program history.
