Washington able to crack Stanford’s goal, but still can’t beat the Cardinal in overtime

Even though Washington was able to crack Stanford’s defense twice, the Huskies lost a 3-2 decision in double overtime in a home men’s soccer match Sunday.

The Huskies (7-6, 2-3 Pac-12) scored on Corban Anderson’s penalty kick in the 86th minute to force overtime against the Cardinal (7-2-3, 4-1).

With three minutes left in the second overtime, Stanford’s Arda Bulut scored from the top of the box off assists from Charlie Wehan and Jack O’Brien for the winner for the current NCAA champions.

The Huskies’ two goals came against one of the best defenses in the country as Stanford allowed two scores for just the second time in its past 27 matches.
