One of these days, Washington offensive coordinator Jonathan Smith said, the Huskies might just throw everyone for a loop and let Jeff Lindquist throw the football.
For now, it seems, Lindquist’s one-dimensional cameo role on offense will carry on as is.
Lindquist, a 245-pound junior captain, scored his first touchdown of the season on an 8-yard run in the fourth quarter Saturday night, one of his four carries (for 18 yards) in the Huskies’ 49-3 rout of Arizona.
Lindquist has been used as a Wildcat-fullback option on occasion this season, often when the Huskies have the ball near the goal line.
