Turns out, Jake Browning just missed out on an invitation to New York for Saturday’s Heisman Trophy ceremony.
Browning, Washington’s standout sophomore quarterback, finished sixth in the Heisman voting, the second-best finish by a UW player in program history. Steve Emtman, the only Husky invited to the Heisman ceremony, placed fourth in 1991, when Michigan’s Desmond Howard won it.
Browning received three first-place votes, 41 second-place votes and 91 third-place votes.
Louisville’s Lamar Jackson was the runaway winner, appropriately so. He threw 30 touchdown passes and ran for 21 more, and averaged 410 yards of offense per game.
