Washington coach Chris Petersen declined to offer an update on Jake Browning‘s injured throwing shoulder, saying only that the freshman quarterback is “day to day” as the Huskies prepare for a trip to play No. 10 Stanford on Saturday (7:30 p.m., ESPN).
Browning suffered the right shoulder injury late in Washington’s 26-20 loss to Oregon on Saturday night. Unable to play, Browning was replaced on UW’s final drive by redshirt freshman K.J. Carta-Samuels, whose second pass attempt was picked off with 24 seconds left.
Carta-Samuels had earned the backup job in recent practices, Petersen said, adding that junior Jeff Lindquist will continue to compete with Carta-Samuels.
