DUPONT — Led by Washington Husky Cheng-Tsung Pan with a 5-under 67, seven golfers took the first of two steps Monday necessary to wind up 8 miles up the Puget Sound coastline in five weeks for the U.S. Open at Chambers Bay.
In addition to Pan, four golfers earned berths from the 120-man field by breaking par on The Home Course’s 7,352-yard layout and avoiding the seven-man playoff of par-shooters for the final two spots.
Lacey product Cameron Peck shot 69, Seattle University sophomore Ahren Young shot 70, and Husky freshman Spencer Weiss and 16-year-old Spencer Tibbits of Vancouver, Wash.
