UW women’s crew finishes fourth in NCAA championships

GOLD RIVER, Calif. — The Washington women’s crew finished sixth Sunday morning in the varsity eight final on the windy concluding day of the NCAA championships.

The Huskies, racing in Lane 5, rowed into third early, but the dominance of Ohio State and California soon materialized. The Buckeyes prevailed in 6 minutes 18.15 seconds, with top-seeded California second in 6:18.51. Washington finished in 6:29.51 at Lake Natoma.

Washington finished third in the second varsity eights and fourth in the varsity fours.

In the second varsity eights, Brown led the entire race, winning in 6:25.99. Ohio State was second in 6:27.
