LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Washington volleyball team kept its cool in a back-and-forth victory over Ohio State in the NCAA regional semifinals on Friday night, knocking off the Buckeyes, 23-25, 25-20, 25-18, 12-25, 15-8.
The regional semifinals had been the achilles’ heel for the Huskies in recent seasons. UW lost in that round last season and in 2012, both times to Nebraska.
Fifth-seeded Washington (30-2) advances to the regional final to face fourth-seeded Nebraska (29-4) on Saturday afternoon for a spot in the Final Four.
The Ohio State defense stifled the Huskies’ usually dominant attack in the first set, causing Washington to lose only their fifth set in the past 13 matches, 25-23.
