Huskies quarterback Jake Browning, California’s all-time prep record-holder for touchdown passes, will have a chance next year to throw to California’s new record-holder in touchdown receptions.
Marquis Spiker, a 6-foot-3 senior receiver at Murrieta Valley High School, had 13 receptions for 284 yards and four touchdowns in a wild 59-56 victory over Santa Margarita in the opening round of the California state playoffs Friday night.
Spiker’s four touchdowns give him 70 TD receptions in his prep career, breaking the 17-year-old record of 66.
Spiker also had a team-high 18 tackles and an interception in the victory.
