UW men’s basketball skirts Seattle U to hold on for 89-84 win

The Washington men’s basketball team built a double-digit lead early in the first quarter, but the Huskies had difficulty pulling away from Seattle University.

Washington was ahead for more than 37 minutes, but neither team led by more than seven points in the second half of an 89-84 Husky win that was decided in the final minute.

SU sophomore guard Matej Kavas canned a short jumper to cut SU deficit to a 83-82 with 53.4 seconds left.

UW freshman guard Jaylen Nowell then drove to the rim an drew a foul on 7-foot-3 center Aaron Menzies that sent him to the line.
