Washington offensive lineman Dane Crane has announced his retirement from football, becoming the latest example in a series of UW linemen forced out of the sport because of mounting injuries.
As a redshirt sophomore last fall, Crane made his UW debut in the season opener against Boise State. He also played in the next game against Sacramento State before a back injury ended his season.
Crane is a former three-star recruit from Santa Margarita High in Irvine, Calif.
“After 16 amazing seasons, it is time to say goodbye to the game I love the most,” Crane wrote on Instagram Thursday night.
