UW football’s rebuild, suddenly, looks ahead of schedule

Chris Petersen never offered timeline on how quickly the Huskies would grow into a winning team. At some point, results become an important part of the process, don’t they? That positive reinforcement came when the Huskies stunned No. 17 USC and former UW coach Steve Sarkisian.

Chris Petersen is a perfectionist, and a demanding one at that. From the precise placement of linemen’s hands to the handpicked selections of locker-room music, Petersen has rebuilt the Washington football program over the past 22 months with attention to seemingly every detail.

The goal: perfection, always.

Coaching the youngest offense in UW history, and playing one of the toughest schedules in the nation, required another demanding-but-necessary quality for Petersen this season.
