UW commit Parker Kennedy in ICU after being impaled by javelin

An 18-year-old Washington Huskies commit remains in the hospital after a freak javelin accident at a track meet in Oregon.

University of Washington track and field recruit Parker Kennedy was impaled in the eye by a javelin Friday at the USA Track & Field meet at Jesuit High School in Beaverton, Oregon. The rear end of the javelin, which he had previously thrown, went through Kennedy’s right eye socket.

Kennedy, who graduated from Hudson River Valley High School in Hood River, Oregon, was airlifted to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland, where he received treatment for his eye.
